Blame

I found a couple of 'live' recordings I made in the attic of our house in Rawstorne Road, Penwortham. This one is 'Blame'. Another jolly little number about abandonment and growing old.

Oh how your words rang true
A thousand times I believed in you
All the time you knew that you’d be leaving me
And now I recognise
The poisoned promise of your lies
With these broken words you were deceiving me

Hand to mouth and day to day
Messed up middle aged decay
The sum total of our mistakes
And blame

Narrowed veins and damaged heart
Watch as my life falls apart
Who would want to buy this ragged story
You think you’re holding all the cards
As you cut your fingers on the shards
Bleeding as you shine in all your glory

Hand to mouth and day to day
Messed up middle aged decay
The sum total of our mistakes
And blame
